At the first edition of the Dubai International Superyacht Summit, expert speakers from around the world and the UAE were almost unanimous in acknowledging the vast potential of the region to become a yachting destination and in stressing the improvements needed to realise this potential.
Local industry leaders, while appreciating the acknowledgement of the country’s potential, and pointing out the massive on-going investment in required infrastructure, were pleasingly paying attention to the challenges spelled out without reservation by the visitors.
There was widespread appreciation of the valuable networking opportunity within the event.
Post Summit Survey
The post summit survey brought up some interesting observations:
“...we know all of the problems and have had no answer to it so far”
“The summit was as expected, with a broad range of information delivered”
“Request more interaction between industry and local authorities”
“A very well organised and insightful event...”
“I request feedback as progress is made”
“...development of a marine lobby group to help pressure government bodies to act on common operational barriers”
FABMAR has produced a comprehensive report on this summit, including all in-summit questions and all post-summit comments received. P&O; Marinas will share all of this information with the concerned local authorities with a view to creating a dialog that we believe will bring positive results in the future.
FABMAR will publish developments as they occur on the summit website.
